About Me
I’m just beginning my professional writing career, although I’ve written some since I was a young boy. My aspiration is to write children’s picture books and nonfiction, but I do also enjoy writing for adults.
Most recently, I won first place in the 2025 WriterCon contest for Young Readers (for a picture book story). I was surprised to win first place in the 2024 WriterCon contest for Flash Fiction, and to be published in WriterCon Magazine, and was a runner-up in the inspirational category at WriterCon 2022 (that story can be found at https://kellycorbly.org/kellysgift/).
I’m also honored to have been published in eMerge Magazine (July 2025) and to have been interviewed in their podcast, eMerge Unchained.
The Write Better Together podcast folks graciously allow me to help out every now and then. It’s a good show—check it out!
I’m currently working on some adult and children’s nonfiction projects as well as a screenplay.

Ironically, despite this being a pretty basic website, my main job is as a website designer and SEO consultant through my family-owned business, Open Door Creations. I also love teaching writers and artists about how to create websites and optimize them for search engines and AI, and have presented at many conferences and other gatherings (see my LinkedIn profile).
